The Watch out

So, last night I was sound asleep, well okay as sound asleep as one can be at 2:30 am, and I heard this noise. Thinking it was just the Tv or even my imagination, the noise sounded very much like my front door. I have a door hanger, that makes noise every time the door opens. This sound was so perfect... up I was, grateful I had Jamma bottoms on, and out front I went. The front door was shut perfectly tight, and had not hear it shut again, thinking all was good and convinced that my imagination was over reacting, and all was well, I crawled back into bed.... Only to hear that noise again... I think I laid there for a good 10 minutes trying to analyze the noise. No satisfaction to anything I could come up to was satisfying my over reactive imagination. Note tho that the neighbor's dog was not barking so wasn't even considering that someone was trying to break into the back yard.

Could not turn off those thoughts, so up I go again.. robe on, and sandals.. How funny that I actually could find them. Cell phone in hand... I go out to the back yard, and low and behold there is that noise again... standing there, trying to get up the nerve to find out if the Raccoon was back..., I started around the side of the house, trying to be as quiet as possible. There is a fairly full moon out, which just adds to the superstition... but maybe I am just losing it...

As I approach the corner of the house, I am fairly sure that I see a dark figure, small and animal like go around the corner... I stop, trying to convince myself to figure out "what" t was I had seen. Phone in hand and 911 programed in... I go around the corner... and you would never believe what I saw there...

Two very black dogs, mine to be precise, Copper and Kilah. The little black figure I had seen was Kilah, my little dog. Copper had her nose stuck to the fence between the neighbor's and my yard. Snorting, trying to get under the boards that I have blocking. I sat out there for a good 15 minutes, trying to figure out what they were after.... and then the noise again....

Kilah was so desperately trying to get attention, "Mom, pay attention to me, pet me, love me". Copper was still very busy with the fence... not distracted at all by my presence.

Okay, I am so done, tell the girls very quietly, "kennel" and away we go, back to their kennel. Laughing when we get there, the tarp is shredded over their space, and promise to get it replaced...and then, hmmm, what were they so interested in the fence... back I go, sitting there, watching and listening. There was no more noise, and as I get up to go, I see white and black thru the fence... by the time I have enough nerve to get up, I stand on the fence, to peek over... absolutely nothing there... and as I get down, I see the neighbors black and white dog, on the other side of the yard... Guess they just wanted to play, mind you at 2:30 in the morning...

Still laughing at the mental picture of the black shadow I saw... just can imagine the conversation... "Quick stop, she is coming!!"

Sweet dreams :)
